Hi there,

Something is not right whit the sending and receiving of emails of other accounts through Outlook.com.

I am trying to add my Yahoo account to my emails to be sent and received through Outlook.com but it keeps saying that I might need Yahoo Plus.

However, this is incorrect, as Yahoo plus is just about ad-free emails and accounts that never expire -- not for giving pop access (see details here). Yahoo is fully compatible with POP3 and it should work with any POP3 client, including Outlook.com. In fact I had the account added before, it is just that I accidentally deleted from my settings.

Could someone please advise?

Regards,
P.

I'm trying to link an Yahoo Mail account ( for sending - receiving mails ) and I receive an error message "Check your email address and password, but the problem may be that Yahoo! requires you to subscribe to Yahoo! Mail Plus."  My Yahoo's POP settings are OK ( Yahoo's support team has approved it ).

I am unable to hit "reply" to the last comment.
Had another issue a while back on another question where I was unable to mark one of my own replies as the answer to my own question... after I found a work around seeing as no answer was actually constructive. See: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-system/the-backup-failed-win8-0x80780119/fb62a18f-4d7c-461e-a9cc-68520ebf30c5

My current issue (the first one above) is two fold:
#1. unable to reply
#2. MS's security system is so bloated that it's easier for me to rely on my alternative email address (a Yahoo one btw) for password recovery than it is to try and remember a new password. Essentially, the security of my MS account depends on the security of my Yahoo account...

...anybody see a flaw there?
Trying to send a message to a friend from my hot mail to her gmail
But I keep getting an auto email saying the delivery to the following recipient
has failed. I even tried from my yahoo account and I got the same failure message.
Which is weird because she just emailed me 3 times from her same email 2 days
ago.
I am not able to complete the POP send/recieve setup of my Yahoo mail account in Outlook.com.  I am getting the following error message

"Check your email address and password, but the problem may be that Yahoo! requires you to subscribe to Yahoo! Mail Plus. Learn more "

I do not have a Yahoo Plus account, but as of the last yahoo upgrade this is no longer required.  Free accounts have been enabled to use POP.  This is what I have done:

-- I have enabled POP in my Yahoo account.  I have already configured pop access in gmail and it is working fine, so the problem is not in Yahoo.
-- I have cleared my browser cache, and tried in both Chrome and IE8
-- I have entered all of the proper POP settings and ensured that my password is correct.
-- My Yahoo user name does not match my Outlook user name

Please let me know what I have to do to fix this.

Hi,

Some redirected/forwarded messages are going missing from Outlook.com - not in Junk, seems they never made it in by smtp ...

Creating a new thread as requested:
(I originally posted my comment here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/mail-email/certain-emails-simply-never-arrive-at-my/140b9a77-5462-4ca1-819e-074fece717be?rtAction=1382189717032  as reproduced here)

I use a redirect service at my domain provider to forward emails to my mail service accounts. I currently have email sent to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** redirected to three accounts at gmail, yahoo and hotmail.

That gives me backup access and a way to access my mail via any of those providers.

I recently switched from gmail to hotmail/outlook.com as my primary provider, as I have a windows phone.

But some emails that I find in the gmail account and in yahoo, are not in hotmail at all.

Like Daniel I checked spam and junk folders - and I am sure that the issue is that some emails never arrive in hotmail at all.

In the other mail vendors I can see the emails and that the relay at pipex.net / 123-reg.co.uk has passed the email on properly.

One of the lost emails was a personal email from a friend sent from a hotmail account earlier today.

As far as I know the senders do not get an error - and I have not yet found any pattern. But the even occasional loss is enough to make Outlook.com unreliable.

I recently switched from gmail to hotmail as primary service, as it has better integration with Outlook 2010 and my Windows Phone, but will need to switch back as losing messages is not acceptable.

(I chose not to assign my domain handling to my email providers but to keep that separate.)

BTW, I access hotmail by windows phone (using MAPI) browser and on windows 7 via Outlook 2010 client using MAPI interface.  They all show the same emails - and I am sure that the issue is in SMTP reception at your servers.

Without wanting to brag I used to work in ISP email, and I understand headers, email envelopes and rate limiting and blocklists etc. I would be happy to work with you or colleagues if you want to investigate.

I have at least two examples - including one message originally sent from hotmail.co.uk today.
It went via my domain redirect, and was delivered to my yahoo and gmail accounts - but is missing from hotmail.com.    *I can quote details including message ID and time if required.*

Another example was sent last month from ntworld.com (aka Virginmedia - whose email now provided by gmail. Later some other messages from that same correspondent were delivered properly.

Thanks.
Best Regards,

I only started using my new email yesterday, and today I got a message in my inbox that said that my Yahoo ID pass word had been changed.  Thing is, it's nothing to do with me.  Thing is I'm not sure if whoever has used my email address has done it on purpose, maybe they had a similar email address to mine or something. When I thought someone was trying to use my account for something bad I clicked on the link in the email to reset the Yahoo ID password again, and there was a mobile phone number and another email address listed to send the reset request to , so I'm really unsure what to do next.  I have an old Yahoo Messenger ID and have tried contacting the user via that, but other than that I'm not sure what action to take next.  The mobile number and other email address aren't show completely so I can't use them to try and get to the bottom of this.

Obviously if this Yahoo_ID is being used for something dodgy I don't want it associated with my new email, but I've not got any clue what to do about it.  There have been no suspicious emails sent from 'me', so I really don't think I've been compromised.
