Window 8.1 problem

hi, just downloaded Windows 8.1 and now can't open messages in Hotmail inbox. I'm using IE11. Same problem with my wife's Hotmail account. Tried clearing browser cache/cookies but didn't help. No problem on other computers. Any help would be much appreciated.

Windows Live Mail won’t open my messages

For the third time this year I have incurred a problem with not being able to open my email messages in Windows Live Mail The first couple of times it was due to a certain security software which once uninstalled cleared the problem. This time I did nothing for this to happen. A certain "fix it" company in the States has been trying to solve this problem for me for three days, a lot of which I experienced by hours of wasted time in front of my computer.

I get my email through Orange and can open it through a browser, but I can't now access current contacts, open messages or send in WLM. Any one got any ideas please.
