Here's the message that Outlook is giving me:
Recipients of email from this account may see "From hotmail_...@live.com on behalf of *** Email address is removed for privacy ***."
- To send and receive email from this address, please add this address to Outlook.
So I next clicked on "Add a send-and-receive account if you are sending and receiving email from your POP account." And went through these steps:
- POP server: pop3.live.com
- POP server port: 995
- POP SSL required? Yes
- User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
- Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
- SMTP server: smtp.live.com
- SMTP server port: 587
- SMTP Authentication required? Yes (same as POP3 username and password)
SMTP TLS required? Yes
When I do this I get this message:
"It looks like you're trying to add another Outlook account with POP. There's a better way. Add your account as Send-only, then sign in to the other account and set up Email forwarding."
Problem is I'm not "trying to add another Outlook account with POP", I'm just trying to setup Outlook.com to receive.
So, what do I do now?
Thank you in advance for your attention,
Pete
I have an Outlook account *** Email address is removed for privacy ***.
My domain name - ducker5.com - is hosted by a company called MelbourneIT
On 31 October 2013, something happened resulting in me, and many other people with domain names at MelbourneIT, losing connectivity of their hotmail/outlook accounts.
I can access the account, see old emails, but no new emails can be received or sent...my contacts just get a cannot be delivered message.
MelbourneIT support, and many of their users, have found that the solution is to update the MX record. Therefore, what I hope you can give me is the MX record for my account, so I can passs it to them, and they can update my account and get things moving again.
It's been 2 weeks already and it's getting very frustrating.
I am not a technical person, so I don't really understand what an MX record is or how the problem arose...from what I understand from the community chat is that you (microsoft) may have decomsissioned some servers resulting in the MX record held by my domain provider no longer being recognised/valid. Something like that.
Since I cannot access outlook, I can provide an alternative address if needed.
I hope you can help resolve this asap.
Stephen
