I've read the posts. Creating a new identity is complex and long (and I'm a novice). There HAS to be a simpler way to get rid of those non-deletable inbox emails.

POP email.

Thanks for your help.
This happens on both my 2011 17" MBP, and my 2009 27" iMac.  I'm running Mountain Lion, and keep all Microsoft updates up to date.

Very frustrating, as I never recall having to do this on a WIndows machine.

I'm now considering switching to Windows 8 due to all of the troubles I continue to have with using Microsoft's 2011 office products on a Mac - just a pain.  I left Windows because of Vista and Norton AntiVirus (hate both).  But now with Windows 8 Pro, I'm considering the switch for better integration with Office365, which I migrated our company to last year.
I cannot open my Outlook version for Mac. I keep getting the following messages:
1) Upgrade Office database
2) Rebuild database utility
3) Identity is older than this version of outlook.
4)It will not allow be to rebuild it reads "done" Help is really needed.
5) I just purchased the new license for my desktop MAC. I synced my laptop MAC to the new desktop MAC than realize that I could not open my Word,PPT, Excel. Never used Outlook on my laptop.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Guys,

This is not working. I have the same issue my Identity is 2 GB. Following the microsoft guideline for rebuilding the identity the program (Microsoft Database Utility) is trying to close all MS applications. But th eforced stop shows no MS office applications running.

So once again MS product fail. I wish i could return the license and get my money back.
Just tried to install the latest Mac Outlook 2011 upgrade (14.2.2) per Microsoft Updater push notice.  The Upgrade stopped midstream and said a Database Rebuild was required to complete the upgrade.  The process would never complete itself and I ended up with a long error message every time i tried to restart Outlook.  So, per recommendations on this site, i deleted Outlook and reinstalled it.  Still have the same problem and do not know how to fix.  I did not have Time Machine running when this happened and my last backup of the MS database was quite a while ago.

Anyone know how to restore my DB and get Outlook running again?  Thanks.
I used the Export in the Outlook into an external USB disk but it failed. The .olm files could not be Exported. Several times it went into Rebuild of Microsoft Database Utility which also did not fix the problems. It was so easy to Export the Outlook database in PC but very difficult to Import into Outlook for Mac and now impossible to Export from Outlook for Mac. I do regret getting the Outlook for Mac.

I think Microsoft Outlook for Mac should not be sold to the public until it is fixed completely.
