Microsoft are refusing me access to my Hotmail account without a security code, of which I have no knowledge. They offer to send me the security code but will send it to my Hotmail account , which they will not give me access to

I've been asked for a security code when I tried to access my @live.com account. Received one, entered it and got an error message saying the code was not valid. Tried for a second one, same problem. Used the chat support. They were not able to help
me and wanted to escalate. At one point I was able to access my account.... They did not understand how come and give me a link to post here about this issue as I am afraid I will have that login problem again
I've received Microsoft account security code via SMS from number +447781470659, but I did not do anything with my account at that time. I am very curious now why I received the code. Please tell me all of the situations that the security code will be
send to me, maybe it can remind me what have I done or there is someone trying to get my account.
I can't access my email because it says it has been hacked and I can't change what email my security code goes to because I cant get that option...also that email account is an old one I dont even use anymore and I cant verify my account with the survey
but I have very important emails in that account and i need desperate access to it
I tried logging onto my hotmail account from my new phone and then hotmail has since blocked my account stating that someone else is trying to access my account. It says that I need a security code to unlock it and the only way that it'll send one to me
is via my email address, which, obviously, I can't access! The other option is "I can't verify my account", which I clicked on and then it asked me to fill out a form with all my details to send to a specific email address (I sent it to my mother's email),
it has since come back saying that they cannot verify my account. I called Microsoft and they said that they couldn't do anything apart from suggest this forum to me so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I signed in to my hotmail account today and was told that I would need some kind of security code. The only option it gave me was to have the code sent to a very old email address which I don't believe even exists anymore.
There is an option to update the security details on the account but it won't update for 30 days!?
Am I going to be locked out of my account in 6 days?
I use my hotmail just for basic emails with friends and don't need or WANT this level of security? I just want to use my email.

I have never asked a security code for my email via cell phone ( message) and i want to ask, if i ask for a security code via cell phone, is it free? Or do i have to pay? If so where can i see the info.
After having the security code send to an alternative email address, when I want to log into my account using this code I get the message that a new code has been send to my mobile number which I no longer use and that the code I put in is not correct. Why is this happening?
