I am receiving an error message “It looks like someone else might be using your account” when trying to sign in to my account

When I try to sign in to my email, which I've been using for almost a decade it tells me this:
It looks like someone else might be using your account

To help you – and only you – get back into *email*, we need to verify that it's yours. 


It then asks me how I want to receive my security code, I picked the option to send it to my other email but I haven't got the email with the security code yet.

"As you're trying to access sensitive info, you need to use a security code to verify your account. How would you like to receive your code?"

About a week ago I started getting prompts to enter a verification code, but everytime I requested it to be sent to my backup email it didn't arrive (I checked all spam and junk filters).  Progressively the counter said I had fewer and fewer days to resolve the issue, every day I request the verification code which never arrived.

I also emailed hotmail support who sent a message to my hotmail account (!) rather than my backup email address, with one day to spare I logged in and it wasn't clear if anyone was doing anything to fix the problem.  I replied but now cannot see if there has been any response.

Today my hotmail account is locked, verification codes still aren't arriving (again checked all spam and junk filters), other emails are arriving to the backup address fine.
 
Can someone help with this issue?  The circular event process is driving me crazy and I need my hotmail back.

Can’t verify my hacked account.

Someone hacked into my hotmail account a few weeks ago and I have been unable to access it since. It has a lot of information that I need and it is important that I get back into asap. I have tried to fill out the form to verify my account but it keeps telling me that I am not providing enough information. I have had the account for years so I do not know why I can't verify it with the information that I have provided. It then tells me that it will send a security code to my alternate email address that will allow me to access my account, but the security code never shows up in my other email inbox. I am getting frustrated and I need to access this account soon. I have tried everything I can think of. How do I finally get a security code to access my account???

I was directed to get a security code to protect my account. I got the code and it didn't work. I changed my password and now nothing is working. This is very stressful for me. I applied for a job and was waiting for an email. I need to get into my account NOW!!!

It looks like someone else may be using my account? Please help, I have tried every option.

My Xbox live account is linked to one of my emails but I can't log in because apparently someone else is using it. I can't receive the security code as it gets sent to the same email which is blocked (which I think is really stupid and Microsoft should do something about it) and every time I reset the password after filling in the details, when I try logging in, I get the exact same message "It looks like someone else may be..." 
Please help as I have exhausted all options and it has come to my attention that the only way to actually solve this problem is to get help from a Moderator who works for Microsoft.

I can’t get into a hacked account

I have tried to follow the instructions to verify my account (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) to regain access several times and it's still not working. It says it is sending a security code to my alternate email, but I have not used that account in years and I am unable to gain access to it as well. I need to recover my email asap. How do I get the security code to make this happen?

How do i replace my old alternative security email address in Outlook?

Recently when I open Outlook I get sent to a page saying "Help us protect your account" which asks if it can send me a security code to my alternative security email.  However the alternative email I have stored is no longer in use. 

 

So then I click the "I don't have these anymore" option, and I am then asked for my telephone number for the code to be sent to.  

I don't want to give out my phone number, so I want to change the redundant alternative email address for a current gmail one that I have.

 

But... there doesn't seem to be any way of doing this.  I've seen older posts on this subject that talk about there being "manage security" options where you can remove and add alternative emails, but when I go to account setting/edit security settings, I'm sent back to the "help us protect your account".

 

any help on this would be great.

My hotmail account keeps requesting a "Security Code" and is counting down the days to when my account will be disabled unless I comply!! What is going on!!?? What do I do?? How do I stop this???!!
