Attention Microsoft

I have just recently gotten a message when signing in stating that my security information "is required" to be added. It allows me 5 days to add this.

I can add either my number or an alternate email address...

However I do not have this.... This is my only email address. And I do not have an allocated phone number...

This requirement can not happen. I read that if I don't provide it that my account will be blocked until I do....

This is completely unfair... You should not add new "requirements" for access, which especially are personal...

It is biased and in a way discriminative to say that only people with multiple email accounts or phone accounts can use our product...

I have relied heavily on this email address and it contains thousands of important emails, and hundreds of contacts saved also hundreds of contacts have this as my only email... If I lose this account it will be detrimental...

It is not right and probably illegal to demand such personal requirement...

Please help to resolve or I will have to seek legal action...
My mother's email (removed for privacy) account has recently been hacked. She received an e-mail confirming a change in her email address (from *** to g.n.hunal), which at first she thought was harmless. However, since then we are unable to log into her email account, and all the security information has been changed. Despite this we have tried to fill out a form, using my email address as a Contact address, however the information provided was insufficient. On top of this, we attempted to send a code to her mobile, only to discover the mobile number has also been changed by the hacker. For some reason, my mother is still receiving emails to her Blackberry mobile, and when we requested a reset link, the email appeared on her phone, but in a different language. The emails on the account are highly important, and it is imperative that the account is either recovered or deleted completely.
Any suggestions/help would be welcomed.
Many thanks,
AntHunt
I'm concerned that when I updated my security information on  my Hotmail account, an email address showed that does not belong to me or anyone I am familiar with. Does this mean that someone has gained access to my email? If so, will they be blocked out now that I've changed my password?
My wife now gets this message when she attempts to access her email.  (She uses Outlook to connect to her MSN / Hotmail).  She is prompted to have her security information sent to a Yahoo email account.  She does not have an email account at Yahoo.  Is this request legit or has she picked up malware somewhere?
Hi all,

I've been having issues with my hotmail/outlook account. It started off with a message after signing in saying that it looks like other people have been using my account, so I had to fill out a questionnaire to validate that I was the rightful owner of the account. I answered questions such as "name some of the email folders you have created for this account" and "provide the subject titles of recent emails you have sent". This went through fine and I was sent the following email to reset my password (I have blanked out my email address in the links for security reasons):

Right on! The information you submitted for *email address* has been verified.

Click this link to reset your password:

If you didn't make this request, click this link to cancel:
https://account.live.com/password/resetcancel?otc=*ClUglGCIgV1WP4Qo5DfY6FIm5iAkbNQHtGhpIPhD3JKlMJm5mJaNqBitkLX4zh8LL5RMut9oHyGFz28L2wXqxCI$&mn=****************%40hotmail.co.uk&cxt=Acsr

After you reset your password, we highly recommend that you update your security information to help keep your account more secure. Adding a phone number, an alternate email address, or a trusted PC will help you get back into your account if you ever lose access to it in the future.

Go to https://account.live.com/proofs/manage to sign into your account and manage your security information.

Thanks,
The Microsoft account team

The link that came through said it was expired when I clicked on it, so I requested another. I have now requested many reset links and they have all said they are expired (even when clicking on them immediately after they came through). I really need to access my emails ASAP. Please could someone help urgently?!

Man thanks,

Laura
As the title says I cannot receive the verification code that was sent to my alternate email since i no longer have access to it and i cannot receive the code to the phone number since it is my old number. I have 4 days to get the code or my account will be locked. On my main email i CANNOT access the security information because it takes me to the page where it asks for a code and how i would like to receive it. Please someone help!! My main email is *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and the alternate that i no longer have access to is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
