I have recieved an email allegedly from WindowsLive and Hotmail Security Team.

*** Email address is removed for privacy ***.

Saying that I need to click on a link to verify my email. Is this a scam of security threat to me or is it genuine??

Many thanks

As above
I need to (compulsorily!) install Windows Platform to access MSN. I keep following the instructions, e.g. Platform should appear when I request available updates It doesn't!. I am told to install a security programme; when I attempt to do so I am told I need a Works disc which I don't have.  What do I do???
When I try signing in to hotmail a Windows Live screen sometimes automatically comes up asking me to add more security details, ie. mobile number, trusted pc, alternative email add, security question.  Is this genuine and, if so, is it just a case of answering one of these rather than all?  I would never respond to an actual email asking for info like this but can only presume as it's an actual page that pops up after signing in that it IS genuine....but you get so wary about anything these days!!
Someone has been sending spam *Removed information for security purposes using my address --there are all these deliveryfailures to all these addresses on my contact list and I tried to send a warning to everyone on my contact list and the same thing happened to me: there's a deliveryfailure, except instead of using my name it says the same thing, that it's from ebayele. I changed my password, but I really don't know what that has to do with resolving the issue I have now :/
I received an email stating that my email is corrupt and in order to upgrade me for free to better security you need some privacy and personally identifiable information.  How do I know this email really came from you?  How do I verify this is an authentic email?
The server for account "Yahoo" returned the error "[SERVERBUG] AUTHENTICATE Unable to open mailbox; please try again later." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

When I re-enter my password, I always tick the box to "remember the password in the keychain".

Then Outlook connects but disconnects after a while.

In general, the account is always disconnected after a long period of inactivity (say overnight).

Any tips?

Using Windows Live Mail Windows 7 64bit, FIREFOX, latest version receiving an error message when I click a link in Windows Live Mail.  A pop-up says "there was a problem sending the command to the program" Believe I removed ALL antivirus programs before installing Windows Security Essentials this morning. DH installed on his this am, too, using Vista and Windows Mail, removed same Avast I was using and no problems with links.  I can copy/paste the link and put it directly into Firefox and it works.   Do NOT want to use IE for my browser.
