I get this message when i try to receive hotmail messages in Outlook OS-X 2011.

Outlook cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct.

I recently changed my password, as I do every few months, but the new password works everywhere else (phone, ipad, webmail).

The server and password settings are correct. I've checked them so many times. 

I can send emails fine, which uses the same username and password as the incoming server.  

I can send AND receive fine on my ipad and iphone, which have the same server settings as Outlook on my laptop.

I can send and receive fine on the webmail-based Outlook/Hotmail.

All this makes me believe it must be Outlook OS-X 2011 which has a problem. 

Can someone please suggest a solution?

I am unable to send e-mails at present. I have contacted my Service Provider but all is in order on their side....

I have updated my server information and am sure I have the correct information: smtp-server.stx.rr.com.
All four of my email accounts are unable to send out, but I can receive in.

As of today I am no longer able to send email using Mac Mail. All of the messages remain in my outbox. I did not change any server settings, and it has been working flawlessly for months up to today. Does anyone know if something has changed with the outgoing server or if it is having problems today? As server I have listed smtp.live.com, authenticating with username and password, and using SSL. The mails simply sit in the outbox and no error message is displayed. Does anyone have any idea how to rectify this situation? The lack of an error message doesn't help troubleshoot the problem.

My computer has just stopped sending hotmail messages via Thunderbird. I have been to the THUNDERBIRD help topics and all of the server settings are exactly as they should be. The error message is as follows:

Alert - an error occurred sending mail: SMTP server error. The server responded. 5.5.4 Invalid Address contact you mail administrator for assistance.  

Firstly I have no idea how to contact my e mail administrator and secondly I have no idea how to sort the problem. Any advice needs to be simply put. I am not smart technically speaking. I am working on a mac, not sure if that matters?

Sorry, I'm a bit confused.

 

1. as my email is *** Email address is removed for privacy *** , I was under the impression I need to set up the server settings for the app in order for them to work so how can i do that?

 

2. Yes it does not apply to any specific kind of emails but I am not able to see previous emails nor any present ones.

 

3. Not sure what this is supposed to mean?
