Hi

I am having a problem with SkyDrive. I have successfully uploaded about 16gb of data (c8000 files) but in the progress section of the modern SkyDrive app it is showing 3 files as completed and will not remove them from the list (they have been there two days and will not go).

Secondly, I thought I was going mad because I have been setting my whole SkyDrive folder as 'make available offline' (and checking it in the settings of the modern app) and when I have gone back and looked its set itself back to online.

No one else uses this machine, and I honestly thought it was me doing something. But last night I deliberately checked it and on a re-boot to day it was back as online!

Hello,

I just got surprised again to see that my Skydrive icon on Explorer again shows an exclamation point. RIght-clicking it, and choosing 'View Problems', it tells me:

"There was a problem signing you in to Skydrive. Go to PC Settings to check the info for your Microsoft account."

Well, going to PC Settings, my account is connected. My apps are also updating. I can connect to my Skydrive account on the web.

But it also tells me that Fetching Files on this PC is not enabled/supported. But my settings is enabling it.

Service Status reports that everything is FINE.

On the skydrive website, it says that:

"Skydrive can't connect to "ifacedown-win8"

ifacedown-win8 is the name of my PC.

Just a month ago, I reinstalled Windows 8.1 just to correct this problem.

Please Microsoft, why these problems?...again?

Thanks

Like others I discovered about a week ago that Skydrive in my preview version of Win8.1 had stopped syncing some files.  I tried several things and then decided that I'd wait till the release version of 8.1 arrived.  I've just completed installing the release version (no difficulties) and find that I still have the same problem.  I find this very worrisome as some of the files that aren't syncing are critical to my job.

Anomalies I've noticed that might contribute
  • My timezone and calendar were changed at some point - not by me.  I was set to the proper time on the West coast of US, but I'm on east coast

What I Observe

  • SD is functioning properly for some files in the same general path
  • A sample file that isn't syncing is: D:\SkyDrive\Drexel SD\Academic\Admin_Plan\ABET 2012\Vist and Visitors\SChedule for Visitors 20131021a.xlsx
  • A file in the path D:\SkyDrive\Drexel SD\Academic does sync properly.

Any help would be most appreciated.  This is a big problem for me.

I currently have two computers syncing to skydrive. They were syncing the same folder to skydrive, such that the folder would remain identical across computers. I was backing up in the directory Skydrive/Backup

I recently upgraded one of them to Windows 8.1. The other one has Windows 7. Now, it appears to have made a ton of "dummy" files in which don't open or sync to skydrive.

For example, let's say I have a word document Test.doc. There are now two files, Test.doc and Test-nameofwindows7computer.doc. Test.doc does not open, while Test-nameofwindows7computer.doc seems to be the original file and working fine. This has broken some of the applications on my computer, as the file they reference does not open.

How do I remove these dummy files and sync skydrive like I did prior to the update?

The current error in skydrive is

"Files can't be uploaded because we can't access the folder. For help, contact your administrator"
C:\Users\Computername\SkyDrive\Backup\My Music

This folder doesn't exist, so that would probably explain why skydrive seems to be confused. Not sure why it's trying to upload that folder anyways.

I was very excited about the integrated SkyDrive folder in Windows 8.1 until I found out it won't upload any files for me. It sees my online files with no problem, and can accurately show what is currently on my SkyDrive. However, I have not been able to upload a single file using the desktop integration in Windows Explorer. It was suggested to right-click the SkyDrive icon and select "Make available offline" which downloaded all my cloud files to my local computer, but did not allow me to upload files even when it finished syncing. I am trying to upload files by dragging them from a folder on my hard drive to any folder in SkyDrive. The file just sits there and does nothing. The availability says "Available offline". I right-clicked one of the files I was trying to upload and clicked "Make available online only", thinking that would force the upload, and I got this error message:

Of course, I did try waiting several hours and trying again, but a 1MB file shouldn't take that long anyways.

No matter which file I try, to which SkyDrive folder, nothing will show up when I log into SkyDrive through the browser.

Specs:

Windows 8.1 x64

Intel i7 3930k

Biostar TPower x79

32 GB RAM

128 GB SSD

As a side note, I am running Windows 8.1 RT on my Surface RT, and this all works fine using the same Microsoft account. Maybe this is an issue with 8.1 x64?

Please help as I use SkyDrive almost every day!

Sincerely,

Mitchell B

I would appreciate some help.

Skydrive syncs and uploads approx 1.3 Gb of various files and indicates that all is up to date.

However, at every computer boot (usually twice daily - mornings and evenings), it now uploads the approx the same 1.3 Gb of files again.

They appear to be the same files in the computer Skydrive folder rather than a random selection.

These files have been uploaded for many months - without this issue - previous to the computer shutting down for the holidays.

My Account shows that 20 GB is staill availble for uploads.

OS is Win 7 64 - all updates and using Norton 360 with lates profiles and full system scan completed.

No problems with any other programs on the computer that I am aware of.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi, I've upgraded to Windows 8.1 and can no longer access the SkyDrive tray icon. Although my files are being synced (I've checked with my iPhone), I would like to know if it is still possible to view the tray icon with the green swoosh and status e.g. "SkyDrive is updating your files" when I save a file.

Also, Windows Explorer no longer shows checks to verify that my files have been synced on SkyDrive.

Can someone please advise how I can rectify the above two issues. Thank you.

I had stopped using SkyDrive for a while, therefore some files on my computer were newer than those of the same names on SkyDrive. When I restarted SkyDrive a couple of days ago, it pushed the older files on SkyDrive back onto my computer, replacing the up-to-date ones on my computer without any warning! Now I lost some important data, my accounting database in particular!

Is there anyway to recover my most up-to-date files? Please help!!!

John
I just purchase an additional 100 gig of skydrive space.  I have uploaded 60 gig and now for the past two days there have been the same 3100 files it is still attempting to upload.  These are normal word files, and others that skydrive had no problem uploading.  Any idea what the problem is?  I definitely have a strong internet connection.  Is it just me or does it seem like the public is always trying to figure out why something won't work?
