Hello,

When I download two or more files from SkyDrive, as a zip file, and open in WinZip 14.5 the time stamp indicates a time some hours in the future.  This does not happen when I download a single file.  Is this expected behavior, or a bug?  Thank you.

A friend of mine wants to set up 25 computers with the same login but different file folders. She is using these for the school. How would she go about getting this set up?

This is what she sent me:

Hey techies - looking for a way to work around the 20 device limit on Skydrive.

I have a student computer lab with 25 Windows PCs. Each student logs into the AD domain using the same student account. They will then use the same Skydrive account, and create subfolders with their name on it. Skydrive is the district standard so dropbox isn't an option right now. There is a device limit on skydrive but not one that I can find on skydrive pro.

When setting it up today, we ran into the 20 device limit. Any ideas? I'm counting on Terry Zieke to come up with something crafty for me!

I've been trying to use 365 with Skydrive for about a month.  And, have been having troubles finding straight-forward info on what I can and can't use with a MAC.

Hoping for a black and white answer - Is there no sync option with MAC to desktop for Skydrive Pro/365?
Running Skydirve on Win 8.1.  One folder is looks like it is constantly refreshing as if one was pushing down the F5 key.  The green address bar in Explorer keeps resetting.  Makes the folder unusable. No other folder has this issue.  Nothing showing in the upload screen.  Task Manager shows explorer taking up to 95% of CPU when in this folder.

Any ideas?

Also, I have paid for extra storage on Skydrive and have a 365 Home Premium Account.  The Microsoft support engineer blew me off even when I offered to pay for support.

I recently upgraded my Lenovo ThinkPad tablet 2 (Windows 8 Pro) to 8.1 through the Windows Store when it became available. I have 18.74GB on SkyDrive, which sycs flawlessly w/ my Windows 7 machine using the SkyDrive client. All of that was also syncing just fine w/ the SkyDrive client on my tablet w/ Win 8, until I upgraded to 8.1.

I set SkyDrive to "Access all files offline" from the charms bar in the SkyDrive modern app. It took a very long time but eventually it seemed like all the files had downloaded to my SkyDrive folder on the tablet.  In File Explorer on the desktop I right clicked on the SkyDrive folder in the navigation panel and selected Properties, where I could see that "Size" and "Size on disk" were equal, showing 18.7GB. So far so good.

However, some time later I noticed that in the modern SkyDrive app there was backlog of 354+ files. In the top right corner of the app, it says "Downloading 354 items". When I click on that message it opens a Progress view, where I can see a list of over 300 files, that all show Completed, but they never clear from the list. If I upload a new file to SkyDrive, it downloads instantly on the tablet, and if it even shows up (as pending) in the Progress view it disappears once it has completed.

Yesterday, when I opened Settings on the charms bar in the modern app and selected Options, "Access all files offline" was turned off, even though I never turned it off. I turned it on again, and as has happened before, in the Progress view of the SkyDrive app, I see several files (6-8) that show a status of Pending, even though they previously showed as Completed. This has happened a few times, and it's always the same six to eight files. The files in question appear to have always present on the tablet; so I don't understand why they continually reappear as Pending, or why there are 354+ files that are supposedly downloading, even when the Progress pane doesn't show any files pending, only Completed files.

I think all the files are accounted for, but I want to be sure, as I depend on offline access often for a large number of files and I can't afford to find out they're not there when I need them. When I browse my files in the SkyDrive app, it confuses me to see so many folders w/ Pending on them, even though all of the files in such folders say "Available offline".

FYI, I have verified the following, as requested by moderators on other threads:

  • Can you confirm if your computer is connected to the internet with stable connection and not on a metered network?  YES
  • Can you check if the SkyDrive Sync Engine continues to run and doesn’t continue to crash?  Go to Task Manager and ensure "Sky Drive Sync Engine Host" process is running.  RUNNING
  • Is there an error message on the top right corner of the screen when you launch the SkyDrive app?  NO ERRORS
  • Have you tried uploading new files via web? Are they synching down to your computer?  YES

I have also ran the SkyDrive Self Help Troubleshooter w/out any noticeable results.

Thanks for any help.

Hello,

I just upgraded from Windows PRO 8 to 8.1.  Now my local copy of Skydrive is not syncing to the cloud. Also, if I upload a file directly to SkyDrive portal, it won't sync locally.

There is no issue with the cloud based Skydrive being access via a browser, just the local copy of the files are not syncing up

Anyway, it seems that there is a problem with the integration of the Service and the SkyDrive App in Windows 8.1 because I also have another computer that is having the same issues.

Right now, when looking at the "Progress" window (inside the SkyDrive App) I see:

" Uploading (5)  Downloading (88) " but it haven't changed in the last week. I've checked and the "Skydrive Sync Engine Host" is running in Task manager.

Can you help me?

Thanks,

Luis
Hi there,

I am using mountain lion 10.8.5. I have my Skydrive folder on my desktop where it has always been. It used to sync with my Skydrive app but now everytime I try to open the app, it quits itself within seconds and a very fleeting msg appears that it was unable to find my Skydrive Folder and that I should restart, then it disappears. I have uninstalled and downloaded the latest Skydrive app for Mac but the same thing happens. Can anyone help please?

Thanks
Pauline
After upgrade to 8.1, SkyDrive had to re-sync files from SkyDrive to local storage (despite them being there already but now under a folder called SkyDrive.old). The sync process has stalled - showing 2418 files to download. I can't seem to get past this message. How do I resolve it? Some of the files actually seem to exist on local storage that it claims to be trying to sync.
*URGENT*
Hi,
I just upgraded from Windows PRO 8 to 8.1.  Now my local copy of Skydrive is not syncing to the cloud.
This is really important as there are 8 users requiring access to some of my (changing) files.

There is no issue with the cloud based Skydrive being access via a browser, just the local copy of the files are not syncing up

I can open the local copy files with MS Word, MS Excel or the required program and save the changes.
But the changed files are not being loaded up to the cloud.

There is no problem with my Office installation.

I see some other people also have this issue.

What do we need do to fix this and get the local copy of Skydrive talking with the cloud based copy?

Please note I have some 10GB of files in my Skydrive Documents.
