Hi, I have just had to download the new merged package inc Windows Live Messenger, Skype & FB. HELP!

Hi, I have just had to download the new merged package inc Windows Live Messenger, Skype & FB.  I don't have the messenger box any more and therefore don't get alerts when I receive an email.  Is there something I can do to make a little box pop up when I receive an email?
