My storage folders have just disappeared.  Where have they gone?  This is the second time this has happened, so I'm missing emails I wanted to keep.

Dears,

I first faced below problem with Windows Live Mail 2011, I did upgrade to 2012, the problem remained.

Then I also did backup all emails, fully uninstall Windows Live Mail and did delete all its folders. After re-installing the problem persists.

I also did reduce the emails in Inbox & Sent Items by removing most of them to Storage forlders but the problem didn't change.

WIndows Live Mail is getting almost all times "Not responding" for many minutes.

ANd when able to use it, the contents do not appear in the body but as two attachments .txt and .htm.

Any possible solution for this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Looking forward to hearing soon from you,

Sincerely Yours,

F. Abboud

I am getting a quota warning from the Postmaster in my Windows Live Mail. I have removed lots of mail to storage but I am still gettting this message.  What should I do?

[Moved from feedback]

I inadvertently deleted them while trying to remove a file I didn't recognise.  I got them back for short time using "Go to" but they disappeared again.  I went to C:\Users\user name etc. searched and found the folder and sub-folders but they were all empty.  Does this mean that I have lose these imortant stored files forever? I really need some that are very important and I am devastated.

It was returned with the following note

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

*** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Technical details of permanent failure:

Storage quota exceeded

(along with a bunch of jargon)

I'm helping out a family member. She is using Windows Live Mail and likely didn't shut it down correctly, resulting in the index blowing out. She managed to recover all her stored emails in the Storage Folders a time or two, but this last time they didn't come back.

What I have done so far:

Run a repair on Windows Live Mail.

Rebooted.

Uninstalled Windows Live Mail and reinstalled.

Attempted to restore

Attempted to import

I can find .eml files that appear to be the missing emails in storage folders (there are 3 file sets for storage folders, one I'm assuming for each time she failed to shut down properly.)

What I can't seem to do is import those emails back into Windows Live Mail.

The message I get is that there are either no emails to import or the files are in use by another program.

Yet, I know they are there, I can see the .eml files when I run a search of the hdd.

Help please?

(She's on Windows 7 Home Premium.)

thanks!

I had to reinstall my operating system. I'm using WinXP SP3. Naturally, I had to also reinstall Windows Live Essentials (ver2009). I had to set up my email accounts again but all my Contacts were still there. My problem is that all of my STORAGE FOLDERS are gone. Any idea if or how I can retrieve those?
I received the following message from "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" and need to know if this is legit please:  Welcome to Hotmail. Windows MSN Hotmail is faster, safer than ever before and filled with new ways to stay in touch. Storage space that grows with you means you shouldn't have to worry about deleting your e-mail, and the new calendar makes it easy to share your schedule with family and friends. Due to increased spam and phishing activities globally, a DGTFX trojan virus has been detected in your windows live folders. Your email account will be upgraded with our new secure 1024-bit RSA key anti-virus firewall to prevent damage to our email servers and to your important files. Click your reply tab, fill the columns below and send back to us or your email account will be terminated to avoid spread of the virus.  /// Anyone know of this?? Thanks
I want to copy the storage folders from my old laptop into my new laptop.  I have the Windows Live E-mail accounts up and working.
