Windows8 & WindowsPhone8 has resulted in a problem with my ******@msn.com account that I have been using since 1995.
Tablet & PC:
Outlook.com will sync the Mail, Calendar & Contacts upon initial setup/install or reset. After that outlook.com will NOT sync the Mail. It will however, sync the Calendar & Contacts.
This has been the case since the launch of Windows8. Mail did sync in the Windows8 Developer Preview my Asus EP121.
Nokia920:
Outlook.com has synced flawlessly since the launch of the Nokia920.
On the morning of Friday August 9th something happened. I notice the phone was hot and the battery was almost dead after an hour. Under Settings/email+accounts, the Microsoft account ******@msn.com was continuously syncing. This drained the battery. Upon plugging in the charger, the red battery alert displayed and continued to display till Saturday night.
Outlook.com's syncing drained the battery as fast as it could charge. The phone was unusable Friday and Saturday. I did a soft reset to no avail. I then did a hard reset. The spinning cogs spun all Saturday evening and night till Sunday morning. Once I signed
into Microsoft account ******@msn.com it started to sync. Only the Calendar and Contacts were successful. Mail tries but will not sync.
I have now spent uncountable hours trying to find a fix. I went to the Microsoft Store in Toronto and basically was told that I am SOL.
Is it something unique to my ******@msn.com account? I removed my sim card and installed my wife's sim from her iPhone. I did a hard reset (Settings/about/reset your
phone) and same thing, Mail will not sync. My wife has a ******@Hotmail.com account.
I then opened a new Microsoft account ******@live.com. I did a hard reset (Settings/about/reset your phone) and signed in under my new ******@live.com Microsoft account. I then added my ******@msn.com email account. I tried in both the 'Outlook' and the 'Hotmail'. Only Contacts and Calendar are successful. I have tried numerous other ways and configurations
to no avail.
Is there any way that someone at MS can look at my ******@msn.com account? Maybe there is a problem with @msn.com regarding it's mail server or router or cables or software or settings at your end.
It is such a shame. The Windows8 eco-system is by far the finest. I have convinced so many companies, friends and relatives to adopt. Without exception, everyone that I have demonstrated the window8 eco-system to ask, 'why doesn't anyone know about it?'.
