Invisible message in my Inbox in Outlook Mac

Macbook pro running 10.8

My inbox shows the number 1 in the unread messages for Tuesday of this week, but there is no unread message ? It's annoying. Help?

Emails from my inbox have disappeared

Emails in my inbox (not in folders) have disappeared prior to 3.56pm Tuesday.  They have not been deleted & searching doesn't bring anything up.  Please help!
I use an IMac with Outlook 11 for MAC version 14.2.2
