After upgrading to Windows 8.1 several months ago, I finally got around to using Movie Maker (from Windows Essentials 2012 package) yesterday but I found that I cannot add any audio/music onto my project at all. The "Add Music" icon at the top of the "Home"
row is shaded out, thus not allowing me to click it. When I try to import the audio file through the file menu, a pop-up says "Movie Maker doesn't support the selected file type." However, the audio file is a .mp3 and I have had no problem adding this particular
file before I made the upgrade to Windows 8.1 several months ago.
If 8.1 does not support Windows Essentials 2012, will there be any plans of new Essentials package for 8.1 users?
I have Windows 8.1, Windows Essentials 2012, Windows Live Mail.
1.) Every time I try to send an email with a group address I have to go into Control Panel to repair the Windows Essential 2012.
2.) If I uninstall the Windows Essentials 2012 currently on my PC & then download Windows Essential 2012 from microsoft.com will I lose my Windows Live Mail & all the folders/messages/addresses?
3.) Why does updating Windows not also update Windows Essentials 2012 to eliminate this email problem?
Thank you.
Hi all!
I have just recently downloaded and installed the Windows Essentials 2012 but limited it to the Photo Viewer and Movie Maker only. I can't seem to locate it. I'm certain that it was successfully installed since i can look it up at the installed programs
(Control Panel/uninstall program). I have Windows 8.1 64-bit and my laptop meets the system requirements for the installation. I'm not very good with this new OS, as i'm pretty attached to my old Windows 7 which i don't have access to at the moment. LOL. so
yeah, i'd be very happy if you could help me. thanks!
After installing Windows Essentials 2012, I cannot accept the license agreement, no matter how many times I click "accept", nothing happens.
Possibly related: Also when I install Office on this particular computer, the installer itself breaks.
Movie Maker in particular gives me Error 80070005.

I had been using Windows Live Mail 2011 for a while now with several IMAP accounts, and I had no difficulties on my computer. I updated to WE 2012 this morning, and now I get the error 800ccc0e when trying to connect. Before you try to say its' a provider
issue, please note - it was working fine with 2011, and now it doesn't with 2012. Nothing else changed. I didn't change server settings, I didn't add or remove anything to the email settings.
I even tried setting up a new account with identical settings, and it failed.
There is an issue with the upgrade, as I have another computer that I previously installed WE2012 on and it works fine. It is only on this upgrade computer. Before trying an uninstall-reinstall, I want to know if there is something else that needs to be configured.
I have also started getting errors on my Live account, 80048820. Again, the only change was an update to WE2012 from WE2011. So it's not just my IMAP provider.

HI,
Need some help with my MovieMaker, it was working before but all of sudden it stopped working.
I'm using Windows Movie Maker Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205)
When attempting to publish, I get this error message:
____.mp4 wasn't published successfully
The following problem occurred in your movie: (0x800488E5)
I have reinstalled Movie Maker from Microsoft's website for the Windows Essentials 2012 many times and preformed the repairs and even played with the compatibility mode without any results.
Please help.
Thanks,
Will

While using windows live mail it popped up "Windows live mail has stopped working..." I let it close and tried to reopen it but I get the same message. I tried repairing windows essentials and also uninstalled and reinstalled it. Nothing helps. Have
not encountered this problem before. I am running Windows 8.1, I also tried disabling the firewall and that did not help. Something in Windows Mail is causing itself to happen. This is my default mail handler so I need this fixed. HELP!
Hi
Needed to rotate part of a video taken with a phone in vertical and then the owner twisted/rotated to landscape. I went to use the 'pre-installed' Live Movie Maker on my computer and opened the program but it kept crashing and had to be closed. Usual Windows message; windows is searching for a solution etc., etc., and then the error reports sent to report the problem.
Tried to do a repair in Control Panel to Windows Essentials but had to uninstall and then reinstall as the 'repair' failed.
Downloaded Windows Essentials 2012 and installed but the Windows Live gallery & movie maker do NOT list in my programs via the Start menu.
Try to do individual installations of the parts but get a window showing that ALL the components ARE installed. I have re-booted after installation and RE-installation but still am unable to find Movie Maker - live or otherwise.
Have done a search on the computer and it just leads me to Windows Essential which, when clicked on to get to, just takes me back on line to Windows Essentials information and download.
I do have Photo Gallery and wonder if it is accessed via that program? If so then it's NOT that clear that it has to be accessed from there to open it to make a movie!
Answers appreciated.
