I restarted my computer (Windows 7), and SkyDrive crashed afterwards. I tried to start it up manually but it kept crashing within seconds after opening a Windows Explorer window to its directory. I uninstalled SkyDrive and downloaded the new setup file from MS's website. Tried running it both as a regular user and as an Administrator, but the install process crashes at the end with error code 0x80040ca1.

Any ideas? The comment in the other thread about retrieving an older setup file from <AppData> didn't work. 

N.B.: One unusual thing about my set-up is that my user folder C:\Users\<username> is on a different physical drive and paths are preserved using a symlink. This has caused problems with some software in the past, though never with a Microsoft product before.
