I uninstalled Windows Live Essentials and reinstalled the program. Now WLM works correctly.  It took about 15 minutes which is a waste of my time.

In the past sometimes when I am uninstalling it asked if I want to repair the bad programs and I said yes.  This is much faster than removing the entire program and reinstalling it.  How can I get to this option?

I just ran Windows Update. It's still showing Windows Live Essentials as an available download. Is the Windows Live Mail that is included as part of the Windows Live Essentials package useable, or did Outlook.com make it obsolete just like it did Hotmail?

I installed on my desktop and noticed the version was different on my laptop. so uninstalled on the laptop.  Have made several attempts to install and never got as far as being able to select which items I wanted to install.

This is Windows 7 Pro x64, it's my work laptop so I can't go do Windows Update with it, but I couldn't when I installed the previous version.  It's almost up-to-date with Windows updates.

There wasn't a Windows Live folder in c:\program files, or c:\program files\common files, I did remove the various Windows Live folders in the appdata folder.

The error was 0x80040c2a 'WaitForCatalog'.  No problems downloading other things this morning - Internet seems quite zippy.

Frustrated, off to see if an altenative IMAP client exists.

Previous title - Cannot install Windows Live Essentials 2012

I had to reinstall Windows 7 and somehow I ended up with a different Window mail.  I now have Windows Live Essentials 2011 and I hate it. It keeps marking my regulars coming in as mark with red shield x, potential risk and when I try to read it or delete it they mail goes into not responding mode.

When I try to install Windows Live Essentials 2011 or 2012 on my Windows 7 Pro SP1 pc, I get the choice window which asks "What do you want to install?" - but there are NO choices - only the statement "by clicking an installation option...".  What is wrong, I've tried every screen resolution and I still can't see either of the 2 choices I'm supposed to have.  I meet all the system requirements.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Previous title - Windows Live Essentials installation issue

Went to open Windows Live Mail one morning a few weeks ago after using it for years with no problems.  However this morning it wouldn't open and crashed on start-up.  I have un-installed and re-installed it many times but same problem.  The only reason i can think of it not working is down to a windows update the night before the program stopped working.  Any help would be very much appreciated.  I have included some links to some print screens of what happens when i open the program.

After a Microsoft Update on 3/13/13 which contained about 10 different updates, I noticed that Windows Live Mail 2011 quit displaying my received emails correctly. There were no specific Windows Live Essentials 2011 updates, but there were two Windows 7 updates.

I also upgraded to IE 10 yesterday but do not use IE. I use FireFox 19.

Specifically, I can no longer view images - all I get is the outline. Additionally, where the scroll bar on the right side containing the 'button' to click onto and move the body of the email up and down, all there is now is black.

I have already Repaired Windows Live Essentials 2011, rebooted my system, and reconfigured my account - no change.

I have also verified that under Security, the box is unchecked next to 'Block images and other external content in HTML email'.

Windows 7 Home Premium, HP Pavilion dv7 laptop.

Thanks.

My wife’s machine is a Windows XP SP3 system running Windows Live Essentials 2009.  I want to update her Essentials to at least 2011 but have been unable to do so.

I have tried the full download and install only to be informed at install time that the components I want to update are already installed.  They are of course but the older versions.

I know I could uninstall Essentials and start over but really don’t want to do that.

Any suggestions???

Anybody knows how to change the default location of e-mail files.
I'm using Windows Live Essentials 2012 on Windows 7 x86 OS
