In Windows Live Mail, when I try to create a new mail message, I get - "A problem occurred while trying to open this message".  I can open and view existing message in my Inbox or other folder, but I can't create a new message.

I tried repairing Windows Live Essentials, it didn't solve the problem.

I tried running esentutl.exe -d "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Mail.MSMessageStore", per http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/answers?tId=067c1e2c-36f7-4db9-a834-1761c0cff411

but got:

"Operation terminated with error -550 <JET_errDatabaseDirtyShutdown, Database was not shutdown cleanly.  Recovery must first be run to properly complete database operations for the previous shutdown.> after 0.125 seconds"

I searched on various combinations of "how do I run recovery on Microsoft live mail database" and couldn't find anything.

So how do I run 'recovery' on the database?

Thanks,

Steve

Hello,

I cannot receive email into my Windows Live Mail programme on the PC.
The messages are on the server, as I can view them online, but they are not coming through to my PC.
I have tried Repairing Windows Live Essentials from the Control Panel, to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Many Thanks,
Amtul

(Moved from Windows | Windows 7 | Email and Communications)

So I'm not sure if this has happened to anyone, but I've had Windows Mail and Movie Maker installed on my computer (Windows 7) and I uninstalled Mail because I got Outlook. I did this using REVO uninstaller (which removes all files leftover) but I must have turned my computer off during the process or something stopped it working fully. The outcome is that Mail as a program on the taskbar is still there but I can't use it because of a missing WLDCore.dll and Movie Maker for some reason has disappeared. So I thought to uninstall it again, but it's not there. I then went to install it again and so I selected the 'Choose the programs I want to install' option but it said Mail and Movie Maker is already installed. I've looked everywhere on my computer for the files and can't find anything. I decided to download Windows Live Messenger so I could uninstall it and hopefully kill-off some of the leftover files of the other programs, but after clicking on it, it says missing wldlog.dll and it's the same story as the Windows Live Mail (even though I've just installed it).

Basically my goal is to have Movie Maker and Mail working. Also, I've had SkyDrive working the whole time during this which is also odd.

Comments and advice would be much appreciated, cheers.
I am running Windows 7 Professional on my notebook and have pre-installed Windows Live Essentials 2011 together with Windows Live Video Maker 2011. My question is am I allowed to upgrade to Windows Live Essentials 2012 together with Windows Live Video Maker 2012? I have successfully installed Windows Live Essentials 2012 once but the Windows Live Essentials 2012 was not working due to the video capacity. My notebook is having NVIDIA GEForce GT525M which support DirectX 11 (http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-525m)  higher than the requirment set for Windows Live Essentials 2012 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-essentials-2012-system-requirements) Why is that so/ Can it be fixed?

I use the windows live mail client that was included in windows live essentials.  Now that I've upgraded my O/S from windows 8 to 8.1, I am noticing that some emails are not showing the content properly in the viewing area.  In other words, the email appears blank.  However, if I read the email using the windows 8.1 mail program, I can see the email fine.  Bottom line, what the heck happened to windows live mail program?  Is this not supported in 8.1 or is this a bug?

I received this error message when trying to reinstall Windows Live Essentials - Windows Live mail  on my Windows 8:

Error:  on Catalog Result: 0x80070490

I am unable to re-install this program -please let me know how I re install Windows Live Essentials - Windows Live Mail

I am currently using Windows Live Essentials 2012 - Live Mail. and have been doing so for about a year. Now when ever I try to create a new calendar event it will not let me do so and reports that Live Mail is having a problem reading the message. I find this very strange as all message have been read, deleted or junked and I am trying to use the calendar not the mail section.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem.

Would also just like to state that Live Mail 2010 was the greatest mail program ever - it was stupid to have made any changes to it.

Regards

Michael
