I am using Windows 7 with Windows Live Essentials. My POP3 email client has been WLM for years; (current version: WLM 2011). It has worked  flawlessly until a few days ago. I have 3 email accounts, all with Comcast.net. I can receive my email from Comcast's web client, but not when I download my messages to WLM. I get the following error message:

Unable to send or receive messages for the STEVEN account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR invalid username/password
Server: 'mail.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

I have checked and re-checked my email and port settings, and they are correct---the same for all 3 accounts. There are no drafts sitting in the outgoing mailbox. I use the latest version of Firefox (v.23) and Avast anti-virus. I have turned off my anti-virus and Windows Firewall, but the problem persists. I've uninstalled and re-installed Live Essentials, but that doesn't help. I'm at my wits end. Please help.

Original title:
Windows Live Mail (WLM) receives POP3 mail on only 2 of my 3 Comcast.net accounts

I am using Windows Essentials 2012 Mail. Recently, it cannot send group mail listed in the categories. Have to enter the email address of the recipients one by one. Reinstall and Repair do not fix the problem. Error msg:  Message cannot be sent. Please type an email address in the TO:, CC;, or BCC field. OS is W7 professional 64 bit. Anyone has a robust solution? If Not, the Microsoft group who develops the Windows Essentials apps should look into this problem and come up with an update or develop a new mail version. It is close to the end of 2013, no Windows Live Essentials for 2013? The movie maker should be part of the main OS like in the MAC.

I'm using Windows 7 ultimate x64 fully updated, Windows live essentials don't open, I tried to uninstall then reinstall but without change.

Essentials that I've installed are "Family safety" and "Photo Gallery and Movie maker".

Windows Live Mail 2012; when attempting to reply to an incoming email, the following error message (in it's entirety!) appears:  "A problem occurred trying to open this message. A problem has occurred. Please try again." When attempting to draft a new outgoing message, the same error message appears. I cannot draft an email, whether as a reply or as a new email; therefore I can't send any messages. I did the Windows Live Essentials repair but no success. This problem has been addressed numerous times but no reply has actually resulted in success. This email program has been my favorite but my only recourse is to remove it and use an alternate. FYI: this is the third problem I have posted; no one has successfully solved any of them. Pretty poor help forum, eh?

I inserted an .AVI file (20 seconds long) into Windows Live Movie Maker and received this error-->The file might be corrupt or in a format that Movie Maker doesn't recognize. This movie can't be saved or publish until ******.avi is removed from the project.  Error 0x87160139.

Here is what I have tried to resolve this issue:

1. I have tried multiple .AVI files and .WMV files-->  YES, all have same error but they all play fine in Windows Media Player on this same Windows 7 (32-bit) machine which means the video files are not corrupted.

2. Installed K-Lite Codec pack.  YES, and still have same error.

3. Uninstalled & Reinstalled Windows Live Essentials. YES, and I still get the same error.

4. I also tried logging on as a local administrator just in case the software was trying to write to a part of the registry a user would not have access to and still got the same error.

My conclusion: This software is flaky and should be rewritten or at the very least give better error codes that explain what is wrong. I appreciate it comes for free but make sure software works before releasing it to the masses.

Does anyone from Microsoft (or elsewhere) have a clue what is wrong with Windows Live Movie Maker (16.4.3508.0205)?

After wasting 3-4 hours trying to get this flaky software to work I am at the point of recommending a video editing application that works like Ezvid.

Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I am a new Windows 8 user.  I downloaded Windows Live Essentials and installed Windows Live Mail 2012 to my PC.  I also exported my Windows Live messages and contacts from my laptop which has Windows 7 installed.

I had no problem importing the Windows Live contacts to the newly installed program.  However I am having a problem importing the messages.  When I try to import them from the three different folders they are in -- one for drafts, one for sent, and one for old inbox, I get an error message that states the following: "No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required folders open."

This is despite the fact that the folders are filled with Windows Live 2011 messages and there is no other application running that is using the folders -- not even Windows Explorer.

I am hoping someone will see the message and give me some advice regarding how to deal with this.  Amazingly, when my husband bought a new Windows 8 laptop a couple of months ago, I had not problem importing his mail from Vista's Windows Mail program.

I have a persistent problem with Windows Live Mail. It works OK for a while, but intermittently after send/receive, the send/receive dialogue box says "Not Connected" and WLM locks up. I have to restart the PC to get back onto email. I'm running Windows 7, Windows Live Essentials 2012 and IE 9.  Help?!
