I'm having the same problems and don't know what to do so would like some help too. I've just installed a new pc and have windows 8.1 which I am not getting on well with and don't like the email system as worked very slow  so downloaded windows live mail 2012 and really like the setup of this as similar to what I am used to when I had windows vista. I have set up all my email accounts (8 in total sky and yahoo mail) and I receive emails with no problem but unable to send any emails and get the below message

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address. The sender's email address was ********** (deleted my email address)'.

Subject 'Swimming Lessons'
Server Error: 530
Server Response: 530 5.7.1 Authentication required
Server: 'smtp.tools.sky.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC78
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 465
Secure(SSL): Yes

Please can you help resolve this problem and is windows live mail 2012 the best email client to use with this view.

Regards and looking forward to your reply

Two identical questions merged and the duplicate post deleted

I cannot delete emails from windows live mail 2012.  I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, repair install, and with deleting the registry keys to do a clean install.  I even tried uninstalling 2012 and installing windows live mail 2011.  No change.

The only thing I changed was adding an imap gmail account which was working fine.  I also switched another account to imap.  I've tried deleting the accounts and reinstalling them.  No change.

The only way I can delete emails is to shift+del to hard delete the emails.  When I hit the red x under the home menu it doesn't do anything.  It's not greyed out, it has no response.  I can move it to the deleted folder and it still won't delete there.

However, I can move it to the storage folder's deleted items and the red x will delete the message there but with the same message that I see as shift+del, that it will permanently delete the message.

I believe this is because the emails are now stuck as imap.  How can I tell hotmail I no longer want to use imap, I want to use their deltasync?

This was working fine yesterday - I could hit the red x and it would delete any message, anywhere, fine.  Today I can't delete anything.

Please help!

The other weird thing is that even after deleting the folders in AppData/local/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail and uninstalling, if I reinstall and add the email account, I see the emails instantly.  Normally it should take a few minutes to download all the emails.

Update: my laptop with windows live mail 2012 installed on it is also having the same problem.  Therefore, I believe it's the Hotmail telling my client that it's still imap when I don't want it to be.  How do I change it back?

Up until a couple of days ago my windows live mail was working fine, then all of a sudden when receiving mail it is just stuck .....I have left it running for hours and its not completing and not giving me an error message either!  Nothing has been changed at all on my system. I have been going to task manager and ending task on live mail then shutting down and restarting which has worked in the past when this happened once before but it is not working at all.  I am having to use BT Yahoo mail in the meantime, which is a pain but that is receiving and sending e-mails with no issue!!!

How can I sort/clear windows live mail to get it working properly again?

I trying to subscribe to newsgroups in Windows Communities.

When Windows Live Mail tries to download the newsgroups it tells me:

"Windows Live Mail cannot connect to the internet, possibly because an antivirus or firewall wont allow it....."

I've checked Windows Defender and Windows Firewall but found no setting to allow Window Live Maul to access the internet.

Any ideas how I can use Windows Community newsgroups?

James

Hi I have just installed WLM and currently have two Email addresses, Gmail and Outlook.  Everything is working ok but I have no sent folder in my Gmail even though I can send ok. Outlook has a sent folder.  Any ideas

Original title: Windows Live Mail

We needed a new computer and had the Geek Squad convert our old data to the new laptop. We end up with the same data on multiple mails with different subject in the same folder. It appears to happen when we drag an email to another specific folder and picks up the data from the folder when moved and not from the original email.

Is there an issue between Windows Mail (vista) and Windows Live mail 2013 and how do you recommend it be corrected.

I recently acquired a new desktop computer running Windows 8 64bit. I have Live mail set up. Most days I am unable to open live mail. I have a selection of error codes 0x800C013B, 0x80070002 and 0x8000FFFF.1400.

These are stating the disk is full, unable to locate database, out of memory and data base has been moved. It regularly wipes out all my contacts, has completely lost everything I had stored in storage folders and for fun it takes everything from the deleted items folder and puts it back in the inbox carefully removing all the red flags I had placed. When the computer was set up all my emails and contacts were transferred from the old computer and it has wiped out all of that leaving me in a real mess as some of it was important.

I suppose it works properly about one day a week and is driving me mad. I have lost a lot of important information and email addresses. Please can someone help me to sort this out so I don't have to use horrible web mail.

Hello,  I am running Windows lLive Mail 2012, and for some reason, the sub-menus on the ribbon tabs will not open for me. When I try to open one of them, it comes back and and says something like "Insert Sub Menu Button Pressed", but I cannot get any thing to actually open it  to view the options available. I am running Windows 8.1 and Windows Live Essentials 2012. HOw can I get the ribbon sub menus to open? Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  Travannah

Okay recently I purchased a new laptop and was able to sign into both of my email accounts I had on my old PC using windows live mail. I'm able to receive emails on windows live mail but won't show all the emails I have received or sent on my old PC. Is there a way I can get all those emails onto my new laptop?
