I just had my PC cleaned from virus contamination. One of the problems was that I couldn't access Windows Live Mail. Now I tried, it didn't recognize my password. Changed the password, but it doesn't recognize it. I read the first reply, which asked the enquirer to enter email address and password and then click 'cancel' to get an error message, so you could identify the problem, but if I do that, it just closes the window.

I am running WLM 2012 on Windows 8.1. All has been fine, but recently any new mail remaining in the inbox from my POP3 account has been deleted when exiting the program. Any email which has been moved to deleted or junk are retained.

Would be grateful of any thoughts or ideas on this. I have checked all of the obvious options and preferences settings for WLM and the email account.

My provider Talktalk helped me set up my emails on my new PC.  We have set it up on Windows Live Mail.  It was previously on Outlook.

Although we can send and receive emails we can't find the 'sent items' folder anywhere and therefore don't have any record of them.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks

Paul Sherry

After updating to 8.1 Windows Live Mail 2012 keeps updating.  While updating it cannot be used.  Update can take 2 minutes.

Thank you.

I got following error message while I log in to my windows account and only my account.

I tried to set Windows Live ID sign-In Assistant to manual start in Windows Services. it only works one time, once I start using Windows Live mail and log out and log back in then I get error messaged again. I tried to msconfig and uncheck Windows Live IS Sign-In that I do not see error message, but  Windows Live Mail cannot launch,

I use Windows 7 Home Premium version.

It looks like that it has something with Windows Live mail,

Your help and information is great appreciated,

Regards,

Souris,

Here is error message,

There was a problem that caused parts of the Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant to be disabled. You might not be able to sign in to Windows Live in some programs. The problem may have been caused by a program that was recently installed. For more information, please go to: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=144689

Sry to bother - have searched for this answer but found nothing specific recently that answers everything.

I just did the automatic update for Windows Live and lost all but one of my accounts, all emails between 2012 and today, all storage folders. I can't find the directory my emails are in, despite checking these forums. I did find out to sign in to Windows Live Mail - which got me my most recent emails and one account.

I'd very much like to find emails and folders - lots of important stuff. And to save myself adding back the accounts again.

Any help very welcome. Won't be around again till later to respond to answers but very much appreciate any in the meantime.

Thanks!

Muriel

I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing here. If there is a way, is it the "Reply to Group" button that I came close to using?

I am using Windows Live Mail 2010 on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit machine.

1) Is there any benefit in upgrading to Windows Essentials 2012 Mail?

2) Is there any fundamental difference between the two? Do I gain anything?

3) If I install WE2012 Mail, can I safely and reliably import all of my existing mail and contacts?

4) Is the email storage location and format in WE2012 Mail the same as in WLM 2010?

5) Are contacts stored in the same location on the hard drive?

6) It has always been annoying that in WLM when I open a collapsed folder tree, the focus jumps back to the top of the list rather than staying on the folder I just expanded. This generally happens the first time you expand a collapsed folder; but it can be totally random. When you collapse and expand the folder again, the focus does not change. Does WE2012 Mail behave the same way?

If I use the facility 'Export Email Messages' in Windows Live Mail only 1 message is exported. I am trying to export from my old laptop which is in Windows 7 and transfer my messages via a USB Flash Drive to import on my new laptop which is Windows 8.1. Can you advise me the best way to do this. I transferred all my data using the 'East Transfer' app. which all transferred across OK but the transfer included Windows Live Mail messages which only transferred a few of my messages and no contacts. The contacts I have since been able to export and then import on my new laptop. Help...I do not want to lose these messages, they have information that I need to keep.
