SUSPICIOUS EMAIL THAT CLAIMS TO BE FROM WINDOWS LIVE TEAM FROM *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

HELLO MICROSOFT,

I received a very suspicious email(not unlike one I received before..but more detailed from someone name *** Email address is removed for privacy *** who claims to be with Microsoft Live Team.  She sent an email saying my account was going to be DELETED due to not using it(inactivity) but I use my hotmail account almost everyday.  And she askes for my password, etc.

These six items are what is asked of me and it came directly to my inbox and not my junk box. So, outlook did not filter it?

 

I am pasting the entire email below: again I am suspicious of this and do not understand why I keep getting them with your company information connected to it: Please respond in a timely manner. Because I refuse to give out this information to this email and I do not want my account deleted!!!

                 Need help. Of late i have been getting an email from Windows Live Team (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) and (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) with the topic GENERAL RESET ALERT CONFIRMATION 2013 and EMAIL ALERT asking me to update my account. Content of the email copied below.

I have been using this account since 1999 and have never been in the past got any such mail. Is this some kind of information gathering for Identity theft. As far as I know Microsoft would not send such a mail asking my email, password, DOB, Country and phone number.

Got a msg fm Windows Live Team (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) asking for my ful name/usere name/password/DOB/and country. I’m leery of this request….is it legitimate?

I'm told by Windows Live Team (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) that I need to update my account by providing full name/user name/password/DOB/and country.  I'm always afraid of this sort of request for such sensitive info.  Pls advise if this is a legitimate request in order not to lose my Hotmail account permanently.
