I've seen references to my problem, but no workable answer yet. So here goes:

Want to move mail from Windows Mail on a Windows Vista Business platform, to Windows Live Mail on a Windows 7 machine. I only need to move a few folders, but there is probably 700mb of mail.

When I try and export to a flash drive, I get the typical message about corrupted files or not enough room ( although there's 2 GBs available). So I export to a desktop folder, and it all goes there. Each email line item is identified by NAME  as a long string of letters and numbers. If I double click on a given email record (file?) it will bring up the email fine. When I try and copy it to the flash drive, it will do it with the caution that not all information will be transferred. So I say yes, it spends some time, and I believe I get the file transferred fine. btw, the files are identified as Windows Live Mail files, even though I exported from a Windows Mail program, selecting the Windows Mail format option. (Not "exchange") But so far so good, I think.

Now I go to the  Windows 7 computer. If I simply open one of the transferred folders, I get the emails, and a double click brings one up. So they are there, but only identifiable as a long string of letters and numbers.  Now I go to my newly downloaded Windows Live Mail 2013, click on import messages.

When I pick Windows Mail format it brings up a default folder deep under app/local. I cannot for the life of me find that location to try inserting my flash drive folders. So I browse back to the flash drive and try to import the folder and get the message no files in folder or another application is using the files.... Neither of which is true as far as I can figure.

So then I try the import using the Windows Live Mail format, since that's the way the files are listed in the folder I've brought over. Here I get no default folder listed, browse again to my flash drive and get the same error message.

What am I not "getting?"  Thanks for any help.  Eric

When I ck my email on my desktop with "windows mail" on a vista operating system, it causes my all of my email on my laptop with "windows live" email and windows 7 operating system to disappear.  Why does this happen and how can I fix it??  Do not like windows live mail.  I prefer the regular windows mail or  Outlook express.  However I don't think they work with windows 7.  I'm not very tech savy...please help.

I am unable to reply to or initiate e-mail messages through windows mail. This has gone on for about three weeks now. Anybody know what's wrong?

Original title: Windows Mail correcting languange as you type

Is there a way to have Windows Mail correct the spelling if you are writing in a different language?  I have added the Spanish Keyboard to my system which automatically corrects my Spanish spelling when I write emails in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word which is a great feature but I see now way of having Windows Mail do the same thing.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Today I was adding a new email address to Windows Mail and it seemed to have kicked Win Mail offline. I exited and rebooted the computer and now Mail will not go online. When I click online it will open a box that say that I am currently offline and to click ok to go online. It will display that box twice and then the box comes up and it will say that the address was canceled and show that Mail is not offline.  I have gone through everything I can think of but to no avail. Also now the weather gadget quit working, like it is continually searching but nothing is found.

I am connected via wired and wireless off my router and browsers work fine as I am getting here, just that now Mail and the weather gadget quit going online.

Any help will be appreciated.

If possible I'd prefer not to removed and reinstall Mail as I would have to go through resetting all the rules and I have many.

Thanks in advance.

Ray
Clicking on "mailto" links on web pages doesn't open my mail client, Windows Live Mail, running in Vista Home Premium. Windows Mail is still installed, and doesn't open either as expected, since Windows Live Mail is the default. This is the case in IE, Chrome, FF and Safari browsers. If Windows Live Mai was never set as default that might explain this behavior. Can anyone tell me where WinLiveMail is set as the default mail handler? Or is the problem with it being on Vista?
new notebook with windows 8 cannot find where to apply a a footer type signature block at the bottom of my emails in windows mail
Hi there,

I've just uploaded my live.com account to Windows Live but none of my folders are showing up, and it hasn't synced with my iPad and Hotmail.com access, ie. all my messages have disappeared when I look at them remotely now. So, instead of it looking identical when I uploaded it on Windows Mail, it hasn't uploaded my folders (or the content) and has taken everything from my inbox as unread, although they weren't all unread. And, now when I look at my e-mail on Hotmail.com or on my iPad - I have no e-mails in my inbox. Can you help? I want to make sure that Windows Live and when I log in on Hotmail.com, it looks identical as I travel a lot and won't always be on the same laptop with Windows Mail. I just want them to be synced so that when I open an e-mail on my iPad, it opens it on Hotmail.com and on my Windows Mail too and etc.

Thanks so much,

I have WLM 2011 installed on my computer running vista and Google Chrome. I also have Outlook on same machine. I have tried to link my Windows Mail, RoadRunner, and Outlook. Running RR on Outlook works good, and RR works good on Windows Mail. No problems so far.
However on WLM 2011 I get all tied together. However WLM won't show any emails and sending an email is slow and rarely works. Outlook is dependable and so is Windows Mail, except I would like to find out what I'm doing wrong. Any help?
