smtp;552 5.2.2 This message is larger than the current system limit or the recipient's mailbox is full.
You say to "open windows mail on the computer" then click on "tools" Forgive my stupidity but I don't know how to do this! Can you give more detailed instructions?
Thanks!

Hi, running Windows Mail under Vista SP2. A Windows update ran itself today. When I got the system back it went started Windows Mail (no input from me) and downloaded mail from my ISP - all by itself. On completion, I have my usual list of folders and the updated mail list displayed from my Inbox. Double clicking on any of these - newly downloaded and old mails - opens a window showing headers as expected BUT NO TEXT....
I haven't been using Windows Mail for a while because of an SMTP annoyance. When I have downloaded dealt with emails from my ISP up to and including last week, the full email - header and text has been displayable.
I restored Windows to its previous version and got the 'success' message which also says 'data not changed'. So it's still hiding all the text in my mail. Attachments - referred to in the Header of course - open fine. Just no text ... dating back years ... aaah well, dog's want walking now....
Any ideas? Thanks folks
Jason
Ever since I did the update with ATT I am now having problems sending and receiving emails from Windows Mail (Vista). I like it better than Yahoo mail which I can use. Can someone help me get Windows Mail back. Thanks
I have been using Windows Live Mail on Windows XP computer. I am about to change to a Windows 8.1 machine. Is there an equivalent program available for Windows 8.1 that I can use and transfer my stored emails to.
I have looked at Windows Mail in 8.1 and it does not seem to have the same functionality as Windows Live.
What are my options??
I'm no great expert, but from time to time I try to help my brother-in-law (nice guy but with the technical expertise of a fencepost). He is a real old-timer, running Windows Mail (not Windows Live Mail) on a Vista PC. He doesn't always receive emails that I (and reportedly some others) send to him, and I've been unable to work out why. For example, I answer his emails to me using 'Reply' which I assume guarantees that there is no error in his address; and I don't receive any 'failure to deliver' feedback messages, except his verbal ones! So far as I know, he has no problem with sending emails.
Rather than try to tinker with his creaking email client I thought it might be better to move him to Outlook in the hope of removing this baffling symptom. However, when I started down that route I was immediately asked for (his) Microsoft account password, which produced a new problem; he vehemently denies having any such thing. Now I suspect he must have set up an account somewhere along the way, possibly years ago, but I'm afraid he just doesn't recognise the question.
So there seem to be 2 possible ways I can help him.
- One is to try solving the mystery of the failure to receive emails in his present setup. Is this a known problem with Windows Mail? (I assume it is no longer supported)
- The other is to persist in setting up Outlook as his email client, which means somehow getting round the admin problem of no recorded Microsoft account. I'm sure MS themselves could help with that aspect, but is it worth it - is the likely cause deeper, so that moving to Outlook wouldn't improve matters?
- Any suggestions welcome.
Hello. I think that my computer is possessed.
I have Windows Live Mail 2013 or whatever the latest version is, got it about a week ago. Now, I have strange happenings. Windows Mail pops up and tells me that it is synchronizing and a few other odd messages that I don't remember off hand. It locks up for no reason whatsoever and I have to force kill the process. It even closes itself for no reason at all. But the best part is when it decides to unpin itself from he taskbar and/or the start menu.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
