Hello -

I recently got a new computer with Windows 8 on it.  My old computer is Vista and I am trying to figure out how to transfer all of my emails and folders from my old computer to the new one.  I have already done a complete file transfer with a cable and it seems that Windows Mail did transfer but I can't find it to open it.  I have the Icon as a shortcut on my desktop but when I click on it nothing happens.  Then I had a window pop up saying Windows Mail is already running.  If this is the case, where is it?  How do I see it?  Also, any new emails I have been receiving having been coming into the new email account and then leaving as quickly as it arrives.  I believe it is ending up on the email account I have been trying to find.   Help!!!!!

Thanks so much in advance!

I only get x's instead of images when opening emails from certain businesses (Best Buy Redbox Wal-Mart) etc.  I have done some on line research but have found nothing that helps me.  One subject on the internet said to click on the yellow bar at the top of the email that says "show images".  This bar, however does not appear.  I have added these domains to my safe sender list but still doesn't help. My operating system is Windows 7 Professional.  I use the free version of AVG for anti-virus.

Any suggestions?

I used Windows Mail with Vista for 4 years on my Laptop. This had no probelms downloading e-mails from 6 Virginmedia accounts.
I have now switched to Windows 8 & use windows live mail. I've set up these account to download receive & send the same 6 e-mai accounts.
However, on the main account, Windows Live mail downloads some mail & not others. There is no obvious reason for this, it appears quiet random. However, this makes Windows Live Mail useless as you have to log onto VM server to check no important e-mail has been skipped over.
I installed Windows Live Mail through Windows Essentials months ago but I uninstalled it soon after because it wasn't letting me log in.

I'm trying to install it now (I need it for work), but whenever I run the installer it shows that Mail is still installed. No trace of the software anywhere. I've tried all solutions I could find on the internet but still no luck.

Any quick help will be greatly appreciated as I need this for my work. Thank you!

I am using Microsoft Outlook 2007 and emailing an excel spreadsheet and a one page pdf file.  Anyone who uses Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail is unable to receive the attachment.

I have checked with my email service provider and their system shows that the email goes through their firewall and virus software and is delivered with the attachment, but the recipient does not get the attachment.  they can't even see the attachments at all.

Since I use Windows Mail at home I tested this.  I unchecked the "Don't allow attachments" box and still could not receive the attachments.   All attachments are either .xlsx, .xls or .pdf files.  Two weeks ago I could get the attachments at my home email and had no problem accessing them.   As of last week I have had probably 25 people who use Windows live or Windows mail tell me there is nothing attached to my email.

What happened?  and how do we fix?   Again, the box is unchecked to allow all attachments to come through and this is not working.

My old windows mail program retrieves the email from the host, after which they are not longer available from the host webmail. How/can I change windows mail (windows 8) so that this does not happen, so that I can load email to windows mail and it will stay with host, so I can still retrieve from my iPhone?

Is it possible?

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8 and I am unable to view the email messages that I imported into Windows Live Mail from Windows Mail.  I have already enabled the show hidden files.  Are there any fixes for  this issue?

Thanks
I'm trying to import Windows Mail from a Vista computer into a customers Windows Live Mail on a Windows 7 machine. The import goes just fine, but when I look in the imported folder at her messages, no text appears in the body or subject of the email. It's like this for every single email.

Is there something I'm missing to do? I've tried the export option from Windows Mail, and I've even went to the root folder of Windows Mail and copied the folders that way to import and I'm still faced with the same outcome.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
