I am trying to print a picture in color using Windows Photo Gallery and my HP Office Jet G85 printer.  I have Color selected (not Black and White) under Printer properties settings when I attempt to print.  However, the picture prints out in black and white.  I can print other color documents from Word.
I want to print wallet size photos on either 5x7 or 4x6 in order to not ruin a full 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.  How do I do that?  Or is there a way to select where the 1 wallet size should print on a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet so that I can use the entire sheet?

Advice is needed!  When trying to delete photos in thumbnail view or by any other method, the window shows an overlap of two screens and then freezes. Then when I click the mouse button to re-activate the process, the screen goes blank or shows just the elevator bars. After 5 to 10 minutes the photos are finally deleted. What must I do to get back to the normal deleting process???  Thanks

Hi,
I have a couple thousand home video clips I had organized by adding Ratings, People Tags, Text Tags etc using Windows Live Photo Gallery....
The prime reason for me choosing Photo Gallery vs Google Picasa and other software was that the meta data was supposed to be stored in the individual files.  And this seemed to always work in my early testing... at least with photos.

I recently tried connecting my Xbox 360 to the PC using Media Center over wi-fi and it kept locking up...
I presumed it was because I had shared that folder of all the video clips and it was to much to refresh over wifi.
So I removed that folder set from the Library and I think it must have also removed it from Photo gallery.

When I re-linked that folder system to Photo Gallery, I noticed all the ratings were gone.

Can someone explain what meta data is attached to the files what is stored outside each individual file?
I was able to duplicate this problem very easily by assigning ratings and tags to the same videos and then take that library out of the Gallery Rollup and then bring the folder back in.

Does it do that for all files or just some?
Is it limited to the MTS or certain other types of videos?
Does removing a folder from the Gallery View wipe everything or just some things?

The files I noticed the problem on were all MTS file extensions from my HD Cam Corder.
I hesitate to do much testing on other things where I might loose more info.
I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and have had the same OS and Photo Gallery installation for a few years.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
I have a new laptop that came with Windows 8.1. I downloaded Windows Essentials and Windows Movie Maker Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205) won't play the video from VOB files. The Audio does play. I had Windows 7 previously and the VOB files played just fine.

I copy the file from the DVD and store it on the computer before trying to play it. The file will play just fine in Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player and Windows Photo Gallery. I tried selecting the file in Photo Gallery and then selecting Create, Movie and it opens the file in Movie Maker but will NOT show the video. I did download the KLite Codec pack but that did not help.

I did download FreeMake file converter to convert the file to WMV, however that is an extra step and now I end up with 2 large files instead of 1.

I did run a repair on Windows Movie Maker through the Control Panel but that didn't fix it.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Dear Leonard Su,, Moderator - I NEED 2 QUESTIONS ANSWERED, I HAVE SPENT DAYS AND SAYD ON IT BUT CAN'T SEEM TO PST A QUESTION - DRIVING ME MAD ( AS MICROSOFT TENDS TO DO)

1) How do I post a question to the Community / Forum? I don't get the question I want to ask as being posted before and I can't see how to post a question?
2) The other question is this: Using Windows Photo Gallery, I CAN EDIT THE PHOTO BUT IF I WANT TO SAVE THE EDITED PHOTO ( USUALLY THIS IS JUST AUTO EDITING TO MAKE THE PICTURE LOOK BETTER ) ALL I CAN DO IS BURN TO CD OR PRINT - WHAT I REALLY WANT TO DO IS SAVE THE EDITED PHOTO INTO THE PHOTOS FOLDER IN THE COMPUTER. HOW CAN I DO THAT?

(Otherwise, Windows Gallery is a useless system )

I have used several versions of Adobe Photoshop Element's Organizers (5 & 8 in Windows XP, and 11 in Windows 8) to tag photos. For various reasons, I am now looking for a different image organizer software, which led me to consider Windows Photo Gallery (WPG), installed in Windows 8 on my Inspiron 660 PC..

When using WPG, the descriptive tags that I created with APSE display in the Tag & Caption Pane for some but not all of the photos (~1/3 don't). I have tried to isolate the cause(s) for this, such as differences in the file name, size, etc.. But, I cannot identify why this is happening. I also reviewed a large number of Q&A's in Windows Essential with no success. The number of photos lacking descriptive tags is large ~ 3000, so reentering the tags is not an option.

Therefore, I am hopeful you have a solution to my problem. Thanks.
