Windows Update caused email folders to disappear?

My operating system is W7 home premium.

Last night when shutting down a windows update came through. 

This morning when i booted up a dialog box appeared saying my PC was being configured.  Later in my email account (windows live mail) i found that most of my email folders had disappeared. i have tried restoring my PC to a point prior to the update but the folders have not been restored. What do I do?

Error 0x8004069 Windows Live Mail

I received 0x8004069 when trying to install recent Windeows Live Mail update, I followed instructions given to Nestor to uninstall Mail but can only reinstal about 65% to family security.

 I also have a problem with NET.Framwork that may be related as the recent updates fail to install. I followed instructions and removed NET Framework 1.1 with clean up topol, restarted computer, installed Framework 1.1, could not install SP1 (messahge SLAIB temp---), installed 3.5SP1.

Tried to run Windows Update to install 5 Framework updates but got error 0x80070643. Ran Mr FixIt who said now OK for Framwork and Office but it still didn't work.

Please help - I do not know what else I can do.
