I have two POP3 accounts.  All emails on account A open ok but 2 emails on account B will not open to display or to show their 'properties'

Following advice elsewhere on MS sites I did the following:

  1. disabled MSSE (just in case)
  2. restarted laptop
  3. removed DSD (Dell System Detect ) using Control Panel
  4. repaired WLM using Control Panel

Restarted pc after each operation but still no joy.

All the emails open normally on the same accounts set up in Thunderbird.

Any ideas, please

My Windows Live Mail synced last week and erased thousands of emails off the server and my computer. Fortunately, I believe they were backed up although getting to them is not easy. I have had some success restoring them onto another  computer's WLM storage folders. I am worried that if I go online and open WLM it will sync again and the server wlll again erase everything that is in WLM that is not on the server.  I have read that outlook.com randomly deleting huge number of emails is not uncommon. This has created a nightmare for me - in the middle of a rather delicate situation. Right now, I think I have all the emails in those Storage folders and my normal folders which were mostly untouched - it was the inbox that got decimated. Any idea how to use WLM online to send messages and receive messages without syncing so the stupid server won't delete all the stuff stored on my computer, which is now the only copy I have of thousands of emails? NB: i did nothing unusual, just signed on and sent a message. I noticed my inbox shrank by half. I am lazy about filing stuff, and it can get up over 50,000 messages. I chatted with a MS tech, and they said all the emails were gone for good -- off MS' servers, poof. If I didn't have another copy of WLM on the other computer, or a backup, I'd be dead. It seems the emails went off MS' server due to their issues, nothing I did, and when I synced, it cleaned me out. So: Can you use WLM online and NOT have it sync and match what's on the machine to what's on the server?

Just started getting this on my home computer.

Only on one account.  The other account still works on this computer.

The account failing on this computer works fine on another computer using WLM and on my phone.

Tried removing and re-adding this account.  No luck.

Tried system restore to before the problem.  No luck.

Tried installing WLM 2012.  No luck.

Scanned for malware, no malware.

Since it works on another machine, it can't be the account.  Since another account works on this machine, it can't be the machine.  So, it must be some combination of the two, I suppose.

Thanks.

I have WLM 2011 on Win7. There are 2 gmail accounts and 4 Hotmail accounts. As of ~4days ago, two Hotmail accounts now no longer work, but the other two do continue to work.

I have changed the time on the computer (it wandered ~15mins off).

I have applied any important updates from windows update.

I have deleted one of the accounts and tried to re add it into WLM. It fails to sync (0x800488EB).

I have not changed the other bad account, it still fails to sync on send and receive (0x800488EB).

Unable to send or receive messages for the Msn (scotco) account.

Server Error: 0x800488EB
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800488EB

The other two Hotmail accounts still work and sync as expected.

The gmail accounts work and sync as expected.

I have logged into one of the failing Hotmail accounts via the web, all appears well.

I'm confused as to why one account works and one does not when syncing in Windows Live Mail 2011.

Plse advise.

I am running Windows Live Mail 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331)

I am getting the error message shown below on my laptop, but not on my desktop. This started this morning.

My laptop is running Windows 7 64-bit with all available Windows Updates.

My desktop is running Windows 7 32-bit with all available Windows Updates.

Which makes me wonder if perhaps there is a problem with WLM on 64-bit versions of Win 7 only.

Unable to send or receive messages for the MSN (ltbxxxxxxx) account.

    Server Error: 0x800488EB

     Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800488EB

Action taken:

  • Removed account from WLM.
  • Uninstalled Windows Essentials, all components (WLM & Writer were only components installed).
  • Restarted the computer
  • Installed WLM 2012 via Windows Essentials (WLM was the only component I choose to install).
  • Added my email account *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (this is the only email account I have)

Results:

  • The Left column says MSN (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) with sub-folders. The normal Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc. folders are missing.
  • The right column says:
Windows Live Mail is synchronizing this account. Check back in a few minutes to read your messages.
  • After 50 minutes, nothing on the screen has changed. So, I clicked Send/Receive on toolbar, and I get the same exact Error 0x800488EB message as I started with (see beginning of this post).
  • I tried exiting the program and restarting. No change. I've tried restarting the computer. No change.

I'm hoping there are some settings or something that can be done on your end, as I'm out of ideas on what I can do to fix things on my end.

I changed the password to my gamil accounts and I added the new password to windows live mail (WLM) for each account. When I open (WLM) it says this

Invalid credentials bc16mb6797665pdb

Configuration:
   Account: Gmail (colombian1414)
   Server: imap.gmail.com
   User name: colombian1414
   Protocol: IMAP
   Port: 993
   Secure(SSL): 1
   Code: 800cccd1

I tried removing all account in window live mail (WLM) and starting over this didn't help so  I've removed WLM from my pc and added it again.

I continue to get the same message as above.

What do I need to do to fix these issues?

Thank you for your help

I have been using WLM 2011 for some time. I'm quite happy with it although sometimes it seems to hang.

Is there any point in upgradein to WLM 2012.

If so, what is the procedure: delete and install or just intall ?

thanks

I have an end user who is running Windows Live Mail (WLM) 2012.  Whenever this user receives an email with a .PNG attachment, he is unable to print the email.  If he clicks on the Print button in WLM, nothing happens.  There is no error message generated.

If the user then clicks on Forward and saves the email in the Drafts folder, then he will be able to print the email.  This is a very strange problem.

I found the following community post which seemed to describe a similar issue:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/livemail-program/unable-to-print-emails-with-graphics-in-windows/2687e79f-0076-49b8-a2c1-f1944485c6a0

The Microsoft Forum Moderator suggested updating to WLM 2012.  In my case, the user is already running WLM 2012.

Here are my questions:

1) What troubleshooting steps should I try to identify the cause of this issue?

2) What is the recommended resolution?

I assume that Windows Live Mail (version 2009) was signed into a ID (that I have forgotten) prior to doing the following:

On my Windows 7 online racing computer I have my GP******mc@hotmail e-mail account setup using Windows Live Mail and On my wife's Windows 7 desktop computer in the other end of the house I have my Hu********** Email address is removed for privacy *** and P*********1942@gmail accounts setup using Windows Live Mail also. Since I use her desktop most of the time (and the racing computer is powered off most of the time) I thought it would be great if I could check my GP******mc@hotmail on her computer. I know I could check it using a browser but that's one more step plus the contacts don't show up that way. So I added GP******mc@hotmail to the exiting Windows Live Mail on her computer a couple of days ago. Everything was working great (I thought. All three e-mail accounts showing up in WLM) until I went to send out a new e-mail from my Hu********** Email address is removed for privacy *** account when I discovered, to my horror, that all 75 or so contacts had been replaced by the 17 GP******mc@hotmail contacts. I noted that at the upper right corner of WLM that WLM was signed in as GP******mc@hotmail. When I signed in as t********* Email address is removed for privacy *** (which is the only other Microsoft account I can remember) all contacts go away. If I try to sign WLM in as Hu*******d@gmail or P*********1942@gmail it says the accounts (Microsoft Accounts) do not exist. Since I have a lot of Sent e-mail saved in each of those two accounts I could probably look at each one using properties to get the e-mail address which each was sent to (except most were sent using Bcc: and no address shows up) and manually re-entering them but that would take quite a while. A small number of the lost people have in the past sent me e-mail so It was no problem right clicking on those e-mail and clicking on add to address list. But that still leaves me short over 50 e-mail address. Do you know of any other way of getting my lost contacts back? I thought of doing a System Restore to an earlier date but discovered that System Restore Point was never created (I swear it was at one time because I always do that when setting up a computer). If by chance that WLM was logged into a Microsoft ID (before I added the 3rd account) that I have forgotten, is there anyway to find out what other Microsoft IDs I may have. All I need is the ID because once I have the ID I would probably remember the PW. I would guess that once I sign WLN in using the forgotten ID that my contacts will return. I sure hope so. If not I'm at a loss as to what to do.
