unable to get Word attachments anymore, after downloading big zip file two days ago

I downloaded a large zip file two days ago and since then any other email attachments on Outlook are arriving only as Zip files, with no preview window or ability to download an individual Word attachment. This is the first time this has happened, and I want to reset so I can preview attachments in Word...
