Original title: am receiving windows live error 0x80048849 when i try to download messages to inbox from hotmail.com, any help? thank lyou

when I try to download messages to windows live mail from Hotmail.com, it says unable to receive/send,, windows live error 0x80048849.   I have tried going to the control panel and setting windows live mail as my default email service, but as soon as I close, I reopen to check and it has gone back to the setting of current email default.   doesn't say what the default account is through.  any suggestions?  thank yhou
