I have Windows 10 for a couple of weeks. Today, out of the blue, Windows Live Mail 2012 stopped working. When I try running the app, I receive the following notice: "Windows Live Mail has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

I contacted Microsoft's help desk and the agent who chatted with me advised me that they no longer support Windows Live Mail. I was disappointed, as it's the first time ever I need support for Microsoft, after paying subscription fees for years, and I couldn't get any help.

I tried on my own to run a repair tool for "Essentials" and do other things as advised in different forums but nothing helped.

My main problem is that I have tons of e-mails organized in storage folders in Windows Live Mail. I even remember migrating old e-mails from the days of "outlook express" into Windows Live Mail when I switched to this app. The stored e-mails include even ones from e-mail accounts that I no longer use or have the password to (as I have changed e-mail accounts a couple of times over the years). I asked the Microsoft agent if they can at least help me migrating the e-mails that were stored (presumably locally) via Windows Live Mail to the new Windows 10 Mail app, but they said that there's nothing they can do.

Any advice how to deal with this situation (starting with how to get better support from Microsoft. to how to fix Windows Live Mail, to how to retrieve lost folders/e-mails) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
